Short Post – Roman rooster and stone age axe in 3D

Today I just want to introduce two new 3D models:

Roman rooster mosaic

The model created from 80 aligned images was derived from a sparse point cloud to get a first look at the final model. The texture was mapped onto the 140k poly mesh.

Unfortunately, this object has no location or date. It is in the study collection of Berlin University and was found at least 40 years ago. So if anyone specializes in mosaics, information on the dating and/or provenance would be greatly appreciated.

Stone Age fieldstone axe

50 images were used to create this model. Like the mosaic above, its mesh is only a low-poly version derived from a sparse pointcloud.
